FK Fic Fest 2025

May 5^th will be the 33^rd anniversary of "Dark Knight," Forever Knight's series premiere. May 18^th will be the 29^th anniversary of "Last Knight," the finale. And 2025 will be our 16^th FKFicFest!

Most everything will be the same as last year: challenge-style, minimum 500 words, minimum 51% FK for crossovers, ~2 months to write, etc. One exception is that we won't select prompts via brackets again this year; we'll go back to ranked-choice voting, with the exact method dependent on how many prompts we want.

This poll is for community members. (Join us!) The poll will close at 11:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Friday, February 21, 2023 (or, really, the next morning). Thanks!

As always, it depends on if I find inspiration in the prompts, and there is nothing wrong with the prompts if I don't, mind you, it just depends on whatever's going on in my head at the time and how busy I am.

Yes, for sure! That is certainly the right approach.

I do wish I wasn't quite so busy all the time! But what can you do?

I picked the later date because it's comfortably after the

worldbuilding_exchange. (For which FK is nominated, by the way.)

All the proposed dates, however, are right on top of the end of the Spring college semester.

Question 3 wouldn't let me pick up to 2. When I clicked on a second, the first vanished again. So 2nd choice would be May 17.

This is the second error noticed so far in this poll; I clearly should have waited to post until another time when I was sharper. I'm sorry.

It's good to know about other events with potentially overlapping schedules. Thank you for noting that.

For the future, what might your ideal scheduling look like, if you could pick any schedule?

Originally, the fest happened in May because May holds FK's premiere and finale anniversaries. Over time, it seemed also important to keep it out of the way of HLH_Shortcuts, Yuletide, and Rarewomen>Everywoman, as many folks played those. It's been as late as July and as early as April, I think. The scheduling has depended partly on polling and partly on my work schedule... and surely partly on inertia.
