The 2025 Plan Post: "Was it a step forwards, or a step backwards?"

FK Fic Fest 2025

[community profile] fkficfest is on for this year! Most things are the same as last year — challenge-style, minimum 500 words, minimum 51% FK for crossovers, 2 months to write, etc. — except that we're back to ranked-choice voting on prompts, and we'll have at least 3 prompts, but if the voting shows that more options would notably broaden the appeal, we'll have up to 5. (I'll make the call when I see the distribution.)

Schedule:
  • March 8-14: Prompts nominated
  • March 15-21: Prompts ranked / voted on
  • March 22-23: Prompts announced
  • May 24 (Saturday): Stories due in queue on AO3
  • May 26 (Monday, US Memorial Day): Stories begin releasing

About prompts:
  • Definition: For our game, a prompt is a word, set of words, phrase, sentence, question, stanza, lyric, canon reference, etc. meant to inspire an FK story.
  • Success: We'll likely get the most from prompts that can flex across different interpretations, while also being specific enough to spark reactions.
  • Limits: Up to 3 nominations per person. 1-30 words. If a prompt is a quotation, include a citation (not part of the word count). If you feel that an unused prompt from a previous year would speak to folks this year, you may re-nominate it, but no more than one re-run per person. And, of course, please, no vulgarity, incivility, that kind of thing.

Questions? Advice? Please share! As always, readers as well as writers are welcome to nominate and vote! Thank you very much for your generous support of this community and for sharing in our enjoyment of Forever Knight.

Sounds like a plan. I'll start thinking about prompts right away. Looking very much forward to the game.
