Yay! We have 8 voters, so far, to choose this year's
fkficfest prompts! Vote before Sunday.
We're doing ranked-choice eliminations to find the 3 most widely-appealing prompts among our 18 nominees. So far, 1 of our 18 nominated prompts has 2 first-place votes. The other 6 first-place votes are solo. The first step, per the announced method, would be to remove the 11 prompts with no first-place votes, leaving us with 7 prompts from which our 3 would come.
Important: Given the sheer breadth of preferences (which I should have expected! sorry! bad at math!), let's amend the announced method and push that initial-cut threshold out to include prompts with second-place and third-place votes as well as first. (It's absurd to adjust the method in the middle like this, I know, but I really think we should. Okay?)

Date: 3/17/22 09:03 am (UTC)I'm inclined to agree. As you say, the prompts range widely: some can be interpreted broadly; but others are very specific. When I voted, I thought about the implications of eliminating so many of them at once. It was a bit alarming.

Date: 3/19/22 08:45 pm (UTC)The goal is to identify the most widely acceptable prompts, which will work sufficiently well for the most people. I did read up on how ranked-choice eliminations work. I failed to grasp what that would mean with our very disparate preferences and fewer voters than nominations. I made a poor choice!
I'll calculate the results tomorrow in the originally promised way, in this proposed way, and maybe also in a third way. I'll share all the results.
